About this lesson

WELCOME TO BOOT CAMP

Today's an introduction to VolSignals...

—my background & philosophy.

Index market making was my career- and it remains my passion (can you tell?)
‍

MY CONVICTION?

Nobody should trade SPX without first knowing what you're about to learn.

Read that again...

—I mean it sincerely, and without hyperbole.

What you're about to learn is in a league of its own.

This isn't "lines on a chart" (nothing against TA), and this isn't about drawing inferences from the past.

This framework is STRONG when it comes to predictive capacity.

Why?

Simple.

It's based on causality.

...strong causality.

You're going to learn how to identify and exploit underlying flow imbalances arising out of the collective hedging requirements of the market-maker (or "dealer") community.

For the first time... you get a career market-maker to walk you through the process— start to finish.

Market makers live or die by the edge in their trades- the P&L associated with buying on the bid, and selling on the offer.

Keeping these fractional spreads requires turnover...

—but sometimes you just can't close a position.

At the end of the day, someone must warehouse the options which don't net out across end-users.

Market makers strive to minimize the P&L variance of these residual positions.

How do they do this?

—they hedge.

This is systematic.

It's mechanical.

And it's PRESCRIPTIVE...

...and it's not as proprietary or unique as you might think.

In fact, while firms vary on execution... the Greeks are readily observable and must be hedged.

Trading high volume at light-speed means this is only done via algorithm— lacking discretion or variability.

...their HEDGE is our EDGE
